Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy
Iqra Quran Class takes the privacy of children very seriously. Many of our students are minors, and we are committed to protecting their personal information in full compliance with applicable data protection laws, including UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) where applicable.
This Children’s Privacy Policy supplements our main Privacy Policy and specifically addresses how we handle the personal data of children under the age of 13 (or under 16 where required by local law).
Parental Consent Required
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13 without verified parental or guardian consent. If you are a parent or guardian enrolling your child, you provide personal data on their behalf, and by doing so, you:
- Confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of the child
- Provide consent for the collection and use of the child’s data as described in this policy
- Accept responsibility for the child’s participation in our services
If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will promptly delete that information.
Information We Collect About Child Students
When enrolling a child, parents or guardians provide the following information:
- Child’s first name (used to personalise lessons)
- Child’s age or year of birth
- Parent/guardian name, email address, and phone number
- Preferred class schedule and course type
We do not collect more information than is necessary to deliver our educational services to the child.
How We Use Children’s Data
Information relating to child students is used strictly for the following purposes:
- Scheduling and conducting one-on-one online Quran lessons
- Communicating progress reports and updates to parents/guardians
- Sending class reminders and scheduling notifications to parents/guardians
- Maintaining accurate student records
We do not use children’s data for marketing, advertising, or any commercial purpose beyond delivering the educational service.
Online Class Safety
All online classes are conducted one-on-one with a qualified teacher. To protect all students, especially children:
- Both male and female teachers are available; parents may specify a preference
- Classes are conducted via video call (e.g., Zoom) in a structured, educational setting
- We strongly encourage parents to be present during their child’s classes, particularly for younger children
- Teachers are instructed to maintain professional conduct at all times
- Any concerns regarding teacher conduct should be reported to us immediately at info@iqraquranclass.com
We do not record class sessions without the express consent of the parent/guardian.
Data Sharing — Children’s Information
We do not share children’s personal data with third parties except:
- Video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom) used to conduct classes — please review their privacy policies
- Where legally required to do so
We never sell or share children’s personal information for commercial or marketing purposes.
Parental Rights
As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about your child.
- Correction: Request corrections to any inaccurate information.
- Deletion: Request the deletion of your child’s personal data at any time. Note that deletion of data may result in the inability to continue providing services.
- Withdraw Consent: Withdraw your consent for the processing of your child’s data at any time. This will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal.
- Object: Object to any processing of your child’s data for any specific purpose.
To exercise these rights, please contact us at: info@iqraquranclass.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Data Security for Child Data
We apply the same (or higher) levels of data security to children’s information as to adult users. Access to children’s records is strictly limited to authorised staff directly involved in delivering educational services.
Communication with Minors
We communicate only with the parent or guardian regarding all account, billing, scheduling, and academic matters — not directly with children via email or other digital channels.
Reporting Concerns
If you have any concerns about the safety or privacy of your child in relation to our services, please contact us immediately at: info@iqraquranclass.com
We take all safeguarding concerns seriously and will respond promptly.
